When I entered my vehicle after service, I noticed the sticker on my window. The technician did not write the next mileage oil change, but rather left a rude remark that said “look” on the sticker. He also had oil all over my windshield. Also, all of my mirrors had been readjusted to accommodate whoever was behind the wheel. I was not happy about that. They should not be treating a vehicle they are servicing as their own.

I’ve been bringing my Tacoma (2023 with ~32k miles) here since we moved to the area. Pretty disappointed with today’s service. First, I was told that my oil change was not covered under the Toyota care plan because I had already exhausted oil changes prior to 36k miles. The intake person said I should only be changing the oil every 10k miles. However, the manual says and the sticker that Gastonia Toyota puts on my window every time has been in increments of 5K. So, I took, what I thought was a qualified employees statement, and told him not to change the oil, I must have been confused. Now I’m kicking myself for not having it changed as there is only 300 miles or so before I’ve gone 5K since my last oil change. Your tech / service advisor provided bad information and recommendation. If it was just a matter of not wanting to honor the toyotacare thing then tell me. I’m perfectly capable of paying or taking my Tacoma to a different dealer. Second, there was a recommendation to change tires. I get that tires wear out. It is sad that the factory tires need to be replaced at 32k miles. However, the real issue was I was sent a text and asked if I wanted to approve. The quoted amount was incorrect because of the buy 3 get 1 free promotion. That wasn’t reflected on the estimate. Additionally, tires are a big decision. When finally talking to one of you better service advisors, he actually showed me other options that were available. The other options weren’t provided in the request for me to approve. Someone should have reached out to me to personally discuss what my options were and how I wanted to proceed. Just a poor experience in general today. I was planning on buying my wife a new 4Runner TRD off road premium this year. My first stop was going to be Gastonia Toyota. I’m seriously doubting that choice if this is what I should expect. I will not subject my wife to this when she brings a vehicle in to be serviced.
