A lunchtime express oil change took over 2.5 hours. I even had a reservation. The service advisor said it would take up to 1.5 hours max. I would have not agreed to the work if I had known it was going to take that long.

Tommy was helpful and sweet. But he tried to hard sell me on $3600 worth of maintenance on a 16-year-old a car worth about the same. --and the car is running fine. I just went in for an inspection, oil change, and oil rotation, and based on my last inspection, I figured I might need a transmission fluid update. He convinced me to add coolant fluid. And that's all that seemed truly necessary to me. While waiting for my car to be serviced, I called my dad and read the $3600 list of all I was ideally supposed to have done. My dad, who is a normally stoic and reserved engineering geek who grew up working on cars with his mechanic father...bust a gut laughing like I have rarely heard him laugh. Told me the only thing I really needed to keep up with on a car like mine was the fluids, and I made exactly the correct choices. Also, I am supposed to get a free tire rotation with every oil change because I got my tires at Honda of Oakland. The computer showed no record of that--just 1 replacement tire from a flat. Tommy said they only keep records for 7 years. Yep, I got my last tire set prior to the pandemic, then hardly drove at all for a few years of remote work. So my tires still have life! And I should still be getting free tire rotation.--not that expensive, but on principle--not cool. I really shouldn't have to dig for my own receipts before I come in. But since I apparently DO have to do that, I should see what the tire warranty says because I likely have not hit that mileage in 7+ years, if the warranty is articulated in miles as opposed to years.

It was the worst customer service I’ve experienced. I understand they were short staffed but Hong Wong was oblivious to what I wanted, argumentative and brusque. In addition, I was led to believe when I booked the service that I’d have a ride to and from the garage. When Hong called to say my car was ready I asked and he said the shuttle was closed for the day. My neighbor was kind enough to give me a ride. Luckily for me, Hong was busy arguing with an elderly couple when I arrived. John helped me instead. He was kind and efficient. But what I experienced with Hong Wong today is enough to make me find alternative garages for future services.
