Alex was FANTASTIC - so helpful and kind! He updated my record (name and email), and provided me details re my car’s initial service. He also mentioned he’d text me when the car was ready and gave me an estimate as to when to expect the service to be done (~Noon). I’ve purchased Toyota’s from three dealers, Santa Monica, Marina del Rey and Santa Barbara - I’m a big fan - Toyota makes reliable cars and hires dynamic personnel. Thank you! I brought our 2020 Toyota Sienna to the dealership for ADAS calibration after a windshield replacement. This vehicle is used by Samarkand Retirement community to transport residents, including wheelchair users, to and from medical appointments, so timely service is critical. The windshield was replaced by Tri-County Auto; however, due to the vehicle being modified for wheelchair accessibility, they advised us to take it to Toyota for calibration. We made an appointment and arrived at 8:30 a.m. Upon arrival, we waited approximately 45 minutes to be checked in, and another customer who arrived after us was checked in first. At check-in, I clearly explained that the vehicle was there for calibration and emphasized that we needed the van back the same day due to scheduled medical transportation needs. At 1:30 p.m., I was informed that after working on the vehicle all day, the technician could not complete the calibration because the vehicle had been modified for wheelchair use. I was told to contact the conversion company (FR Conversions) to obtain calibration specifications. I immediately contacted FR Conversions; however, due to the time difference, their technical staff was unavailable and advised they would follow up the next business day. When I returned to pick up the vehicle at 3:00 p.m., I was told I owed $940 for the unsuccessful calibration attempt and would be required to pay an additional $940 once the specifications were provided. I expressed concern that this was not fair or reasonable. I then spoke with the Service Director, Jaime, who stated that it “did not matter because insurance would pay for it.” This was confusing and concerning, as I had previously been told the dealership would not handle insurance claims, only to later be told they would. I do not understand how a trained Toyota technician could spend approximately five hours on the vehicle and only then determine that the rear suspension had been modified for wheelchair accessibility. This information should have been identified early in the diagnostic process. Charging nearly $1,000 for an incomplete service, with the expectation of charging the same amount again to finish the job, does not seem fair to us or to the insurance provider. Overall, this experience felt disorganized, inefficient, and dismissive of the essential services this vehicle provides. We are now seeking alternative solutions to complete the calibration properly.

I felt like Melody was new, and I also felt like I was being tricked into services that I might not need. I was also told my hood latch is rusting because I live close to the beach- I’m not sure this is the case, but was told to spray it down with WD40 every so often until I replace it- just didn’t seem right to me, when my wife parks her Toyota next to mine and we’ve had her car 10 years longer than mine. I also had to get my car out of the back lot and take out the trash inside, lift my seat, and drive through where I wasn’t sure I was able to. Just didn’t have a great experience like usual. For them suggesting +$7k worth of work (when my last few inspections had minor suggestions) to the feeling of them not charging me correctly (didn’t charge me at first for oil, when I know I needed to pay for it, so she adjusted the bill again) I’ve had better experiences there. In addition I wasn’t even out of the parking lot before getting a call, voicemail, and email from a sales person telling me he had the best deal on a new car- I find it highly unlikely it was coincidence. He acted shocked when I went in and told him I don’t want to receive those soliciting calls from Toyota, and have spoken with several people (including managers of some sort) asking not to be contacted.
