George wasn’t in when I picked up my vehicle. Would have like for gentleman who helped me to have gone over work done. Thank goodness a detailed report is sent to my e-mail. Have always been satisfied with work performed at Norm Reeves Honda.

I was told that the advisor that was helping have my car serviced would reach out to me. I had some concerns about my car and needed clarification about what exactly was done to my car. My car literally as soon as I left the dealership began to make a screeching noise that was not present before. Would someone please reach out to me about this?

He was condescending and then gave me the wrong car, saying the problem had been fixed. Actually my car was never checked. They checked the wrong car. So then I had to wait for them to check my car. I had to turn around and bring my car back because it still was not fixed! The technician who came out & helped me at that time seemed good. Joseph never even offered an apology. Very disappointing!

My van, a 2002, Honda Odyssey with 245000 miles had an engine problem- a rough idle and I couldn’t drive over 50mph. I live in Ventura but was visiting in Lakewood. I had appointment at 8:20 where I met Johnathon and explained my problem plus a sliding door that wouldn’t open. He told me about the testing fees being deducted from repair cost if I chose to do the work at Norm Reeves.I told him that my van would have to be repaired there because I couldn’t drive it 100 miles home. I heard nothing from Johnathon until late afternoon, approximately 3:45. He told me that I needed a new set (6) coils, valve adjustment, drive belt, fluids (transmission, brake, water etc) changed and door repaired and it would be $5000! I was shocked to say the least. I have a very reliable mechanic in Ventura who services my van and was sure if that much was wrong he would have noticed it. I told Johnathon to forget the fluids and the door repair. I think that brought the price down to $3400. I told him I would call him back and called my Ventura mechanic, Scott Williams. Scott was upset. He said this kind of upsell is common especially with dealerships and was disgusted because he felt it was dishonest and gave all mechanics a black eye. He said all 6 coils would not fail at the same time. “Just tell them to fix the problem and forget the rest”! I called Johnathon back and asked which of the coils was the problem. He said he couldn’t tell. I asked to speak to the mechanic who worked on it but he was gone for the day per Johnathon. I asked for any parts removed to be given to me but Johnathon said that wasn’t allowed, parts were kept by the dealer. (California law says exactly the opposite). I questioned him more about the 6 coils and he said if one is bad the rest are probably bad too. I asked about the drive belt and he said that it was recommended to be done every 6-8 years for safety. Questioning him more revealed that the ‘drive belt’ meant the timing chain, water pump and all belts! If I only did the coils and not the ‘belt’ the price came down to $2900. I told him I would call him back and again called Scott Williams. Scott was even more upset, angry even. He said he would call and talk with Johnathon . While we waited for a call back my daughter and I looked up information about coils, their cost and how to change them. After watching the YouTube video on coil changing done on the year and model of my van we felt we could change them ourselves. We also read many articles about how rare it would be for more than one coil to have a problem. Scott called back and said Johnathon was with a customer and sales manager was not available. Scott said he left a blistering VM for the manager about the “ ****” being heaped on me! I called to speak with Johnathon and left message for him to call me. Instead I received a call from a woman who said my van was done, ready to be picked up and cost $519!!! The receipt said Coil #4 identified as defective and replaced. Sliding door wiring repaired. Never saw Johnathon. My thoughts-disappointment that a supposedly reputable car dealer would employ someone who would be so deceitful. Perhaps Johnathon works on basic wage plus commission so feels like he is earning his money by padding repair bills. By paying commission Norm Reeves is encouraging and rewarding dishonesty by its service advisors. More thoughts- Johnathon saw an easy mark; elderly woman, 100 miles from home, 22 year old van, 245,000 miles. A jackpot I’m sure in his eyes! He didn’t realize that this elderly woman knows a little bit about cars, that she has a daughter that is very smart and protective but most importantly, she has an HONEST mechanic in Ventura who was willing to go to bat for her and call out ‘****’ on Johnathon’s tactics and estimates! So what now? Is Johnathon the only service advisor that pads repair estimates? I doubt it. Will Norm Reeves change the way service advisors are paid or monitor and/or discipline advisors who add thousands of dollars to repair bills? I doubt that too. Will I ever recommend Norm Reeves Honda for repairs? No doubt here, absolutely not! Will I tell anyone and everyone I know about this flim-flam repair con? You bet I will! Will I be ever grateful that I know and do business with an honest and honorable mechanic named Scott Williams? You are darn right. Too bad people can’t say the same about your employee and business!
