I’m not the expert on Car Play. Since Car Play comes with my Toyota, I was hoping the workers in the Service Dept would be trained on Car Play and, therefore, could have fixed the problem. Even though I told the Service Department three times that the disconnect on Maps came when I was on long trips, and never around town, they didn’t question the significance of that information.
Instead a sales clerk heard me tell this info to the sales manager to whom I had paid more than $30,000 for my Toyota. He kindly looked at my phone to discover that “cellular”needed to be turned on for maps to work properly outside of local WiFi ranges.
I hope this information might help with other customers who have this problem.
