I think it’s important to encourage prior customers, especially those who haven’t been in for a while, to return. Unfortunately, my recent experience had the opposite effect. As soon as I presented the coupon, Michael’s attitude noticeably shifted, and the interaction became uncomfortable and somewhat dismissive—as though I didn’t matter.
That’s not the kind of customer service that makes someone want to come back. A gentle reminder to Michael that part of his role is to treat every customer—coupon or not—with kindness and respect would go a long way toward creating a more welcoming experience.
