First of all, Valerie was fine, she was very courteous, and I think your service abilities are ok, but I was disappointed in the outcome. This is more of a problem with the country than Norm Reeves.
The engine light is on and granted, that means something serious is going on. However, the car does run (it's a 2006 Ridgeline). However, your recommended fix didn't work. The fix was to replace an injector, which I already did, but I thought since it was your recommendation. The bill was over $900 which was more money down the drain. The next recommendation by your service people was a valve adjustment, I already had done. Your mechanics just plug the little instrument into a port and read that as the possibilities. I already had that done. What are some of the recommendations I got, Rear brakes needed new pads and the intake filter neede changing, brake fluid needed changing and some more things unrelated to the engine light needed to be done. The fact is, you do not have a good trouble shooting team, and the truth is, no car dealers do. This is just a symptom of why this country. It is so hard to find anyone who can think.
what is known here: the intake valve opens and when the piston is at or near top dead center. Then as the piston heads back to bottom dead center it draws in air which contains a fuel mist and the intake valve closes and the fuel/air mixture is compressed and at near top dead center a spark from the spark plug introduce a spark which ignites the fuel/gas mixture which heats the air forcing the air to expand, pushing the piston down to at which time the exhaust valve opens and as the piston travels up the hot gasses leave the cylinder through the exhaust valve. there are 3 basic things required air fuel and a spark. Other than get the readout of error codes. Your technicians should have made sure the number 2 cylinder was receive a spark, fuel and that the #2 cylinder had compression. And if any of these conditions were not met, find out why and fix it. But again, this is not just a Norm Reves problem.
I stopped bring my cars to norm reeves when one of your mechanics galled the threads in the spark plug hole and you service advisor was making up excuses as to why this wasn't your fault. Every mechanic should understand that aluminum galls very easily and when you feel tightness. you need to back off and slowly try to work your way through it, you dont just power your way through it. well, they tried to use a thread insert which didn't work and basically, I ended up buying a new car. from Norm Reeves. On the bright side, you did give me a fair trade in price. But this is just an example of what I consider to be a lack of skill among your mechanic staff. And the problem is not just Norm Reeves. It is everywhere.
In the summer of 1969 we put two men on the moon and brought them back. What a feat, we were the greatest country in the world, no question and now China is kicking our ****. I spend a lot of time in China, and I know what I'm talking about. I'm an old man and I never thought America's preeminent position in the world could be matched or exceeded. I guess I was wrong. We have really dumbed down. What has happened. I hope you understand what I am saying
