When I scheduled my appointment I needed an 18,000 mile service and my driver seat had also developed an excessive squeak when driving regularly around town (bumps, turns, grade changes, pot holes, etc.). I was told That due to this squeak I would have to book a longer service appointment which was 2-3 weeks out. I booked the appointment and today I was told they simply rocked around in the seat and weren’t able to get the seat to squeak, but that the car wasn’t driven. The seat was sprayed with lube to hopefully remedy the situation. However, when I picked the car up the seat began squeaking immediately as I left the dealership. If you simply google “Subaru outback driver seat squeak” there are forums dedicated to this well known problem and it takes seat rail replacement and/or a whole new seat bottom. Now I have to schedule another appointment to have them take another look. Being that Subaru does not offer courtesy vehicles I have to rely on and wait up to an hour each way for shuttle pick up and delivery or pay $50 in uber fees to get back and forth to the dealership from work. I would hope the problem could have been addressed the first time as it is rather difficult to make several appointments to prove there is a highly annoying squeak in the seat that is already well known to Subaru. Spraying lube on a defective seat is not an acceptable remedy.
