Thank you for inquiring about my service experience. Unfortunately, after 13 years of bringing my Camry in for service at the Northridge Toyota Service Center, I have made the difficult decision to permanently take my business elsewhere.
On Saturday, 7/26/25, my check engine light had gone on. I had initially taken it to autozone to have the trouble code read before bringing it into Toyota Northridge. When I arrived I was informed that there would be a diagnostic charge of $230 to examine the code and to perform the multipoint inspection. I mentioned at write up that I had a coupon mailer that I received the offered to read and inspect the engine code for feee as well as to perform a complimentary multipoint inspection. I was asked to bring it in when I pick up the car so that it could be applied. Upon completion of the inspection I was notified of services that required my immediate attention. The cost of said services was approximately $4,700. Shocked, I mentioned that I could not afford the cost of repairs would need to get quotes for the services needed to make the car drivable and requested to pick up my car without any of the recommended repairs.
When I came to pick up my car today, I brought the mailer in the photo below. I was informed by the intake technician that she had checked with her manager and the mailer that I received that was good until 8/11/2025 would not be honored and that I would be required to pay the $230 fee for the engine code read and the inspection. I had a separate 20% off coupon which they did honor, but still needed to pay $186. Needless to say I was extremely disappointed in the deceptive business practices that I encountered today. In 13 years as a loyal customer I was surprised that Northridge Toyota would stoop to sending these mailers out to bait the customer to come in and only to turn around and invalidate the offer once it was determined that the customer could not afford the expensive repairs. Had I not received the fraudulent solicitation I would not have had any issues, but now that I have been made fully aware about how Northridge Toyota does business I am even more confident that I have made the right decision to seek service elsewhere and to recommend to my friends and family to seek service for their Toyota vehicles at an alternate location. Every time I take my car in for service, I always get the message that it still needs service, even though it’s supposed to have already been done. When I went to pick it up, it also took a long time for them to bring me the car. I had to ask someone if they could bring it out, and then I had to wait about 10 more minutes after all the paperwork was completed. I understand that you may be busy, but this happens every time. I always have to come back just to have the service message removed. Honestly, this is very frustrating and a waste of time due to repeated mistakes.
