GF Wanted to complete $2800 of AC WORK. Got a 2nd opinion, a water bottle had got lodge around the Compressor area not allowing belt to function properly. Changed belt for $79 and the AC work just fine. Also GF suggested new swat bars, 2nd mechanic saw nothing wrong and felt like no need for replacement. This experience has made me question GF’s honesty regarding repairs. I have bought numerous cars and service from GF. Unfortunately, you have lost a customer.

I have been coming to GVF for as long as I have lived in the DFW area (over 8 years) after having a really great experience when I was on a business trip down from Oklahoma for a job interview. I have bought 2 different Escapes and have spoke at length about how great GVF is. Over the past 2 years I have notices a stark change in the service department which has saddened me because I used to work in the service department myself so I do know the stresses the mechanics and the service writers are under. I have had problems in the past of no communication, coupons not being used, services not being performed, and a hostel attitude towards my wife and I when bringing vehicles in for work. This past weekend I brought my 2015 Escape in for its 100k maintenance but when setting up the appointment I listed it only as a 5k Works package because I could not remember what all work was done with the 90K and what was left. I told the adviser Bob to call me and let me know what was found with the inspection so I knew what work still needed to be done. I left the car Friday around 14:00 and waited for a call. The only call I got was from an online salesman asking about me trading my car in. I waited until almost noon Saturday before I called to get an update on the car. It was at that point I was told the car was finished and ready to be picked up. When I got to the dealership I went back to the cashier and finished out the paperwork. It is at this time I will say Bob did give me a $20 discount on the work done because of a previous conversation him and I had about one of the last time I had worked with him which I will say was appreciated and a nice act of good will to mend a difficult past. The paperwork was finished. I used my Ford Pass rewards to help with the payment and Bob took me out to the car so I could go on my way. While we were heading out to the car I mad a comment "I take it everything checked out fine during the inspection". This was met by Bob with "Yes. Everything checked out and was good". There was no inspection on my paperwork and it was not until roughly 16:00 that evening that my wife got the email inspection sent to us. This is where my real problem starts. Me having to call to get an update did put me off quite a bit but that was mended with the aforementioned coupon. The biggest problem I have is when I look at the inspection the first thing that pops out to me is the rear brakes FAILED the inspection by measuring below the 3mm mark and the front breaks measuring at 4mm so just barely above the rears. There were 2 other items that showed up as cautioned items (Rear wiper blade and other maintenance based on mileage) but none of this was brought up to me. It was not mentioned in a phone call while the car was back in the shop. It was not mentioned when I called to check on the car. It was not mentioned when I picked up the car. It was not even mentioned when I flat out asked if anything was found during the inspection. If these findings would have been brought to my attention I would have had them taken care of while the car was there but since I was not told of anything; I was allowed to drive off with a car that had failing breaks. When I talked with Bob after the previous encounter I had with him about my vehicle I told him this would be the last chance I gave GVF. If my standards were not met (my standards being keep me informed as to what is going on and let me know when it is done) then this would be the last time my car comes to GVF and I would make sure to never purchase any other vehicles at GVF (I will still remain loyal to the Ford brand and am looking forward to my next purchase of either a newly designed Ranger, F150 Raptor, or even the Electric F150 once Ford starts production). Because of this visit along with other issues in the past it saddens me to say I will not be coming back to GVF and will make it a point if anyone asks my opinion about where to go for Ford; I will point them in a different direction once I have found a dealership and service department that I can trust. The sad part in all of this is that I started coming to GVF because a different dealership in the DFW area did not take the time to even look up a VIN to find a recall notice that would have been a 5 minute change. This prompted me to come to GVF where I was taken care of.
