Had McGrath Honda of Elgin fix two separate warranty issues (misfiring engine, and full transmission replacement) and had to go back to the dealer 2 times after for them to resolve fallout from that work. The technician did not replace the cowl correctly and left my wife with an unsafe vehicle because the wiper blades became loose. Called and spoke to Martin (very disrespectful employee) and he told me it probably wasn't their problem to fix. Brought the vehicle in as soon as I could (had to be a clear day with no rain or snow because of the windshield wiper issue) and was told they needed to order the small plastic tabs that hold on the cowl and they would call me as soon as they were in. They did tighten down the windshield wiper arms at that time. 2 weeks later, I called back since I had not heard from anyone and was tossed around the service and parts departments and was told, "they just came in today." Then was told I could come pick them up whenever I wanted, and I explained that they needed to fix the cowl and install the parts. He told me I had to call service myself to schedule that appointment. I would think that should be an internal process, but whatever. When I called service, I was greeted simply with a "hello." and had to re-explain everything to them. Finally brought the vehicle back in to be serviced, which by this point was now making clunking and squeaking noises, to have the cowl fixed and report the new issues. Spoke to Luis (who was great by the way) and he apologized for the issues and said to call him directly next time. He informed me that the technician who replaced the transmission was new and that was his first transmission swap. If that is the case, I get it that everybody is new at some point, but there should have been someone else around to QA check his work. They took it back and found engine mounts were loose and tightened them up and supposedly fixed the cowl. When the vehicle was brought back, Luis said everyhting was taken care of. I left, and before I made it too far, decided to pull over and check the cowl. I found that the technician simply replaced the plastic clips but the cowl was still not installed correctly, and was in the same exact position it was when I arrived that day. Had to turn around to come back and explain this to Luis. Luis brought the tech out and also someone else (maybe service manager?) who tried to fix it right there but ultimately decided to take it back to the tech's bay. I also was able to just touch one of the new clips and it fell off, again re-confirming this technician's lack of effort and care for my vehicle.
