I called a week before my appointment to see if I could have a tire brought in because I knew there was a piece of metal lodged in my tire and thus I’d probably need a new one. Instead, the gentleman on the phone said that they couldn’t pre order a tire before physically inspecting the vehicle. I even offered to send a photograph, however, if that would have helped make a determination before I arrive so I could minimize my time at the dealership. Yesterday, when I arrived the technician mentioned that I probably wouldn’t need a new tire upon a quick initial inspection and so I told him I would wait for my vehicle at the dealership. Then, he calls me an hour later while I’m waiting in the showroom areaand instead of letting me know that my car is ready he tells me that I, in fact, do need a new tire and I’ll have to come back to the dealership in the late afternoon when the vehicle is ready. I ended up wasting a hour at the dealership when I had a meeting later that morning that I could have been preparing for. This could have all been avoided if the First Gentleman I spoke with on the phone would have just pre ordered a tire when I called to make him aware of the situation in the first place. I understand the financial risk to preordering tires from the dealer’s vantage point but he could have at least offered me the option to pay for it myself if I would have liked to hedge my risk.
