Not being in person while the vehicle was being serviced has drawbacks. I don’t feel I obtained clear communication regarding the identified issue due to relying on email and a phone call. Connecting was challenging, and when we did it was rushed. As someone who doesn’t fully understand the inner workings of my vehicle, I was relying on the communication of the experts and it’s always a challenge when you have an expert speaking to someone with very limited topic knowledge. It was evident Alan was busy and taking the time to simplify his information so I could best understand was not something he was able to do. Overall, the issue was fixed and the cost associated was minimal, however it was blamed on mice and based on the piece left for my review randomly placed in my vehicle upon pick up does not appear to have mouse damage, it looks snapped (however that would occur). Based on mouse damage, the damage is not covered under warranty, it’s my problem. There’s never been any evidence of mice in the vehicle and I didn’t see any indication of evidence in the videos provided.
When I returned to pick up the vehicle, I did not speak with Alan, I spoke with William who was extremely helpful, and though close to closing time didn’t make me feel rushed or like I was taking too much of his time. All this to say, it really does make a difference when you take an extra 30 seconds to make sure the customer understands the information you’re sharing, or explaining. As the customer, most of us don’t have intimate knowledge of the car service industry, inner-workings of our vehicle, or likely the complexities of an extended warranty, and clear understanding of the job details or what exactly it includes and why or why not. We’re dependent on the service advisor to share and take the time to communicate. It makes a huge difference. And the service department is likely to impact where we buy our next vehicle or recommend our community to buy.
