My truck has been in several times for a hum or howl at 50-70mph. Originally it was under warranty. I was hoping to resolve it then. The service department was unable to find the problem. I recently brought the truck in and I asked them to listen for noise and check fluid level on rear differential. Now what they said they heard and didn't doesn't add up to me. He advised me I needed a new rear differential. I asked what the fluid level was and he said he just found metal in fluid. I asked did he replace the fluid he removed? He said I think he just toped it off. I went home. No new service tag on the windshield. The next day I checked and changed my rear differential fluid. The fill plug was never cracked open. No extra fluid was added. In fact I drained it. I was a full bottle low. It takes almost 4. I brought it to a shop. They put it up. Listened to rear differential with a stethoscope and determined it was the rear passenger wheel bearing. It's fix, noise is gone and I'm back on the road. This could have been resolved under my warranty. Especially the extra warranty I paid extra for. And ended at 100 thousand miles. Which was less than 10 thousand miles ago. I don't think I will be returning to Carlson Toyota for any of my service needs. As I can't really trust what's being said or done. And it really didn't seem like a big thing for your shop to diagnose and repair under warranty. Thanks for your time. At least the money back for diagnosis would be appropriate since you really didn't even accomplish anything. Plus I had to pay for more diff fluid for rear. So the whole thing was a waste of time.

Your digitized communication with me, the customer is very clumsy to use. So I'd get videos and docs from the tech that said when they got approval from me they'd start the repair job, but there were no instructions how to send that approval. I texted my approval by responding to your text, but I couldn't tell if that was OK. I had to wait and hope someone had read that text. This was not Scott's fault, but the fault of mgt at Carlson's.
