We had our van in for 100k mile service, and 2 additional recalls. The drop off and coordination went great. The tech service wasn’t the best from my perspective. I asked to have the front sway bar links and control arms checked because there was a rattle. The video inspection said everything was good. I asked what I need to do to have them drive it. They said pay for diagnostic. The result after consent to diagnostic, Sway bar links. Stevie was kind and did not charge because I had indicated the correct part at drop off.
One of the recalls was on the fuel pump. They did the service. When I picked up there was an INTENSE fuel smell. I went back inside and asked in concern. They said it should wear out within a couple hours to day or so. Current day Saturday. I ended up bringing vehicle back on Tuesday morning because the van still smelled. They checked over the install. No issues found. Sent it to detail, after “detail” Tuesday evening Stevie called and said it’s gonna run into tomorrow. I think they’re going to use cleaner/extractor on it. If that doesn’t work they will use an odor bomb for like when people smoke or something in the cars. I said ok.
I got a text about 8am Wednesday said vehicle is ready. I picked up the van, I’m pretty certain they just odor bombed it. There was no carpet detail or any cleaning done that I could tell because this is a mini van and we have 4 kids.. there were still crumbs and crayons on the floor. I did not expect a full
On detail but when you say you’re going to do something. I think you should do it, I would have expected some carpet cleaning lines or something around the access panels if there was fuel spilled on the carpet. (I could be wrong)
If you wanted to just odor bomb, then that’s fine. Just say that. I believe it worked because I can’t smell any fuel beside whatever odor/scent that was used.
I am just sharing my experience/feedback. I am not upset, because it was “handled”. It was just a bit inconvenient to have to bring the vehicle back and have to deal with the smell that ANYONE could have said WOAH that does not seem right. The smell of fuel strong enough to make you nauseous on a 15 min ride. Let alone need to cart 4 kids (baby) around in the vehicle.
I guess I would have thought someone might catch it or take care of the smell that strong prior to releasing the vehicle. IMO.
Every interaction with Stevie was great. It seemed more “poorly” on the service/tech side.
I work in service and coordination as well and understand we are all a team.
Just sharing my feedback for future improvement because I know these surveys are how we get better.

Background: customer for about 15 years. Currently own 2024 pilot, 2025 CRV Hybrid and 2019 CRV. Service was not up to your usual standards. Too much upsell of products not on Honda list for this round of maintenance. Took me 20 minutes to find the keys once I got home. (Car started because keys were in the car) Keys were placed in front cup holder upon arrival at the service center, but somehow wound up in a small depression on the driver side above the dashboard next to the windshield.
