Everyone was very polite and professional, but the initial check-in agent was very dismissive of the problem (in a polite way), which almost had us getting back on the road with an unsafe vehicle.
The problem started in a parking lot where the key fob would not lock or unlock the car, the key in the fob would also not lock or unlock the car, and the alarm blared intermittently and repeatedly. Every once in a while, the car would unlock, only to then lock itself or continue to be unresponsive.
We called Honda roadside assistance, and the two truck driver arrived and managed to get into the car, which then locked him inside. He could not get out of the vehicle AT ALL and had to roll down the window to communicate. He called a mechanic friend of his who got it temporarily reset (stuck between drive modes or something?) so he was able to exit the vehicle. I shudder to think if my children had been trapped inside of the car. We would have had to break the window.
After this, we were able to drive the vehicle straight to the dealership. The check-in agent heard our concerns professionally and politely, but then told us this was expected behavior? He told us that was how the antitheft system was supposed to work? He said that's also why the key inside of the fob wouldn't lock or unlock the car because it goes into full lockdown mode.
Obviously, that would be incredibly unsafe to lock people inside of a car with no exit ability until antitheft shut itself off.
We pushed back on his explanation, and he agreed to check the car into service. They did find the issue and replaced the part, so hopefully, that is fixed once and for all.
If we didn't have some basic knowledge about cars enough to push back on the service tech dismissing us and trying to send us on our way, we could have ended up in an incredibly dangerous and scary situation when the part failed again.
I don't know if they're trained to try to get people to leave with their cars rather than get warranty repairs or what the motivation was there? Again, he was very kind and polite, and professional, but an incredibly dangerous move to send someone back out in an unsafe vehicle without checking it over completely after hearing what happened. And to offer completely bogus explanations as well was very confusing.

I found Omar Atilano and his staff at the Reeves Honda to be very friendly, courteous, knowledgeable, and professional. Their assessments were accurate, and in keeping with my understanding of my vehicle (7th Honda we have owned). Vehicle service and turnaround were swift and complete. Their charges were reasonable. i also took some time to see the new cars in the showroom and spoke with Bob Matson. He’s a great salesman and knows how to sell a vehicle without high pressure tactics. He was friendly and courteous as well as knowledgeable about the vehicles without having to look it up.
