I brought my car in for service because I received a promotional coupon offering $35 off an oil change and filter replacement, tire pressure check, and multi-point inspection. As I was slowly pulling the vehicle forward, a service advisor whose name was Michael approached and asked what service I was there for. I showed him the coupon, and he told me that after the $35 discount, the total would be about $95, which apparently included a tire rotation. I explained that I did not need a tire rotation and only wanted the services listed on the coupon, along with a tire pressure check. He then told me that without the tire rotation, the discount would only be $10, making the total $79. That did not seem right, so I asked him to verify the regular price of the service package shown on the coupon. A little later, he came back and said that after applying the discount, the total would actually be $74.95. What bothered me was not only that the price kept changing, but also that no one clearly explained what the original price was, how much was being discounted, and how the final amount was calculated. I really dislike this lack of transparency. Can someone please explain what the correct pricing is and how the final charge is being determined?
