Upon arriving, I asked how long it would take to service my car. At this point, I have been told by two different people it wouldn't be too long a service over the phone, but the actual technician isn't sure and is honest with me that they wouldn't be able to give me a good estimate until the diagnostics was done. Fair enough.
One hour passes, I'm guessing they've at least figured out what the service I'm in for is and can give me a better estimate now, so I inquire about how long it will b. No idea, they've apparently sent my car across the street and they'll have to let me know when the Toyota team gets back to them. Okay. I ask about a shuttle, I live an hour away so going home isn't an option and there isn't a pick up service, so, not knowing if an Uber/Lyft back to the dealership would be worth it, I decide to stay instead of enjoying my day nearby. Again, I've been told by at least two different people it shouldn't be too long previously.
3 more hours pass, no one has reached out to me with any information. I ask someone what's going on, am told it will be another 3+ hours and break down as I am hungry, frustrated, and no where near home. At least that gentleman I spoke to this time tried to be considerate, rectify it in some way by seeing if there was someplace I wanted to be dropped off so I could at least eat, and explain why it would be that long (it was not actually on your lot, so yes, it was slightly on the whims of the other dealership and how busy they were with their own appointments, since it seems your dealership did not actually notify them they would be the ones that needed to service my car, basically making my 9am appointment with Norm Reeves useless)
Aside from the pickup that afternoon, no compensation for my lost, 7ish+ (excluding the drive time, which pushes it to 9+) hours was offered to me and while recognizing most of the people I had interacted that day were not actually to blame, I was so frustrated I simply left without bothering to communicate how truly disgruntled I was at the car salesman who has said it would be a quick service and the parts needed had already been ordered (unsure if that was a straight lie since it was sent over to a different dealership to be fixed) and the gentleman who set up my appointment (Eric something I believe) who also said it would be a short fix and never communicated with me, despite a note that he be informed of my arrival being placed on my order/appointment.
