Waited 20 min for service agent when retrieving my vehicle. Asked cashier to check me out instead. Waited 10 min after presenting paperwork to valet. When my vehicle was pulled around, they drove it right past me and circled back 10 min later. The parking lot is a hot mess due to resurfacing but there was much confusion and seems to me like there could have been much better planning for this as it is something that happens regularly as I understand it. I wasted the better part of an hour today and because I usually get great service I absolutely noticed the difference. Called my service agent while on my way home to discuss the repairs and he was clearly unhappy that I’d asked the cashier to check me out. I mentioned that I had waited a solid 20 min before asking the cashier to help me and he continued to express annoyance. While discussing the actual repair, he said they couldn’t determine what damaged the vehicle b/c the area had been covered in duct tape…. To clarify, the part inside the wheel well had broken loose b/c clips failed and the part had been chewed up/burned by pressure from the tire where it was making contact. In order to make the vehicle safe for my daughter to drive to the service center, I used 2 strips of duct tape to secure the flapping piece of plastic so it was no longer interfering w/the tire and thus safe for my daughter to drive immediately to the shop. I do not see how this action in any way prohibited an assessment of the problem. Not do I appreciate the suggestion that our vehicle situation had been poorly addressed. I am not in the habit of duct tape repairs. As you can see by our service record…. We currently have 3 Toyotas that receive regular care/maintenance at your shop. In this particular scenario, taping up the piece of material that was rubbing against the tire was the right call. When I later asked my daughter about her interactions with Derek, she said he’d made her uncomfortable with the way he spoke to her as well. Our regular service person is Paul Koontz and he has always been helpful and kind and knowledgeable and professional while working with us on a multitude of repair issues over the years. Had this not been an urgent repair we would have waited for Paul to be available. I will never let them assign us to Derek again. There were many opportunities for him to turn things around today but rather he made this an increasingly poor experience. I’m hoping our repairs today hold but quite honestly my confidence is lacking. We will have this vehicle serviced again before my daughter drives it to college in the fall and I will ask for Paul and I’m certain he will take good care of us. Paul is the reason we remain loyal to this shop.
