There was a lot of confusion about a 20% discount coupon offered through email. The coupon was offered for 1 week and clearly stated that it was for parts and service minus a discount for tires. The coupon was a clip-out coupon so I felt it should stand on its own, but the service manager said it only applied to towed in vehicles. The language in the email offered 1 hour free diagnostic service for towed in vehicles a few sentences before the coupon insert, and in fact talked about scheduling a service ahead of time, which you clearly wouldn’t do for an emergency tow-in. I felt that the service manager was wrong to connect the two things: emergency service and the discount coupon which had no limitations other than for tires printed on it. If the service manager was right then the coupon was either deceptive or misleading in luring customers in. If the service manager was wrong then he should have been informed by his management. Either way it was an issue that caused some anxiety. In the end my service person talked with the manager and I got the discount, otherwise I would have reported this at a higher level.
