Mazda Issues Recall Over Possible Corrosion Issue

Mazda Issues Recall Over Possible Corrosion Issue

Nearly 49,000 Mazda6 vehicles in the US may be affected by a defect identified by the manufacturer earlier this month. The issue stated only occurs under specific conditions related to road maintenance standards in certain states. If you receive a recall notice, out partners at Diamond Valley Honda Auto Repair Service here in Hemet, CA urge you to make an appointment with your nearest dealership to get the issue resolved as quickly as possible.

The issue exists within the steering system of the vehicle, where insufficient paint coating was applied to front cross members. Owners in "salt states" where salt is applied to roads to melt snow and increase traction.

Once the salt hits the underpainted parts, corrosion could occur. Under stress, the parts could then fail, causing a catastrophic steering failure and increasing the chances of accidents.

The model years affected are the 2009 and 2010 Mazda6. No actual occurrences have been identified resulting in an emergency situation, but Mazda still urges those affected to act quickly.
