Not sure if my previous message went through because of a bad Internet connection, but I am dissatisfied with the way my vehicle was put back together after the multi point inspection. The cabin air filter door was in completely installed, leading to a kettle like whistling noise and dust infiltration into the clean side of the cabin HVAC system. After replacing the air filter door correctly, I can’t get it to go away. My smells and I drive this vehicle regularly, and for long distances. Such a whistle or whine is both immediately extremely alarming, and extremely annoying.

Despite adding to my comments when scheduling my appointment that I’d be waiting with my car, my advisor didn’t advise the technicians that I was waiting. I spent slightly longer than 5 hours at the dealership for the advisor to say that I didn’t need new brakes but something was causing my brake pedal to depress further than normal, but I’d have to pay an additional fee and most likely bring it back to have the issue addressed. I will never come back to Smart Motors. I’d rather wait a month to get into East Madison Toyota. Mallory’s customer service was horrible, even after explaining that I wanted to wait with my vehicle and that I’d added that to the notes, she was visibly bothered with my 2 questions over the 5+ hours that I sat there. Even going so far as to say “well I just got back from lunch” when I asked if she knew how much longer before a technician could look at my car, this was at the 2.5 hour mark.

I didn’t get a real cause for what caused the engine to overheat. All I was told was it was a bad radiator. I had a full inspection and oil change five months ago and nothing was seen apparently. When I called in to say that only cool air was blowing instead of heat they said our next available date is five days from now whicj I bookrd. I was not told to not drive the car because it could be dangerous. Otherwise, I would still have my car. Unfortunately, I missed my dear cousin’s funeral as a result when the car died about 10 miles past cottage Grove with a $300 tow fee back. So I had to buy a used car off of your lot with a $1500 credit towards my 2012 Camry with 150,000 miles on it. It’s water under the bridge now, but it would’ve been nice to have more information on the exact cause of failure or more options than just the one 110k mile used engine quote with their estimate for repair at $10,800. I would’ve thought that there would be many more used engines. I just consulted artificial intelligence, and there were. Your quote was $8400. AI said - LKQ Corporation (Madison & Rockford): One of the largest suppliers in the area. They currently list 2012–2017 Camry Hybrid engines (OEM) with prices typically ranging from $1,200 to $1,400 for units with ~100k–150k miles. • Locations: Madison (Hoepker Rd), Loves Park, IL, and Rockford, IL. • Sturtevant Auto (Sturtevant, WI): Located about 90 miles from Madison. They are a high-volume yard known for "pull-it-yourself" or "we-pull-it" options. Used engines here typically range from $800 to $1,500 depending on mileage and warranty. B&M Auto Sales & Parts (Waukesha, WI): Located about 60 miles away. They specialize in Toyota parts and often have engines with 90-day warranties. • Copart / Abetter.bid (McFarland, WI): If you are looking for a donor car or a "pull-out" engine, there are currently 2012–2013 Camry Hybrids listed at the McFarland auction site. These are often "runs and drives" but have body damage. Summary - local junkyard $1200.. JDM Importers an engine with 45 to 65,000 miles on an averages $1700. Remanufactured with 0 miles. Fully rebuilt; often sold by Advance Auto Parts or Spartan Engines. 1. Search "Car-Part.com": This is the industry-standard database for junkyards. You can filter by zip code (53703) to see exact live inventory at yards like Schmidt's Auto Inc (Madison) or Yancey Auto Parts. 2. Verify the Hybrid Components: Most used engines from junkyards do not include the hybrid inverter or the electric motor-generator (MG1/MG2). If you only need the "long block" (the gas engine itself), the prices above are what you should expect to pay. Anyway, it’s water under the bridge at this point, but they were cheaper options that you could’ve quoted me.

Bought the car less than 4 weeks ago. Added the integrated dash cam but they were unable to install it without having a cord dangling from the rear view to the cigarette lighter. The Toyota website didn’t show a cord hanging, neither do any of the YouTube videos I’ve watched showing it in older models. Not sure why my 2026 can’t have the integrated dash cam that’s offered on the website but that’s the reason for me being unsatisfied.

Alyssa was great. She hand-held the repair so it would be done in time for me to make an important appointment. This was exemplary customer service.

Alyssa was wonderful checking me in, understanding my scheduling need to be out by 11, and helping me retrieve an item I left in my car after it was in the service area. I didn’t like the suggest $800 dollars in suggested fixes that took time away from unsticking my seatbelt which is what I came in for. Up side, it was fixed for a tiny charge almost free. Still the long list of things to fix that I had not asked for was disturbing and expensive as only a dealer can charge.

I love Smart Toyota and feel comfortable and confident. Appreciate your services. Please extend my thanks to Greg and to the mechanic who serviced my Rav.
