GM Recalls 1.2 Million Vehicles Globally

GM Recalls 1.2 Million Vehicles Globally

In a recent statement, auto manufacturer General Motors has identified a major flaw that could potentially affect 1,250,000 vehicles internationally with 1.02 of these in the US. The recall affects certain 2015 Chevrolet, GMC, and Cadillac trucks and SUVs.

The issue lies with the software module that controls power steering. Due to faulty coding, power steering may spontaneously fail. GM spokesman Tom Wilkinson said he has received reports of 30 crashes resulting in two injuries, but no deaths have been linked to the recall.

As with all recalls, our partners at Marshall Motors Auto Repair Service Center here in Salina, KS recommend you respond to all recall notices ASAP. This is doubly true when it has to do with a critical system such as steering.

GM's solution involves an update to the power steering control software module, which will overwrite the faulty code.

This issue is very similar to one that occurred in 2017 which affected almost 800,000 vehicles.

If you receive a recall notice, give your local dealership a call to schedule an appointment for repairs.
