Protect Yourself From The Global Epidemic Of Fake Brake Pads

Protect Yourself From The Global Epidemic Of Fake Brake Pads

The federal government has recently issued a warning to consumers regarding a wave of counterfeit brake pads distributed across the globe. Piggybacking on investigations conducted by international crime prevention organizations, they found that the threat was credible that we may be unknowingly putting our lives at risk. One of the most critical safety components on our vehicles may be made out of substandard materials.

Last month Interpol released their findings based on months worth of investigation and the news was grim: the epidemic of counterfeit parts infecting the world is spreading.

The origin of the knock-off brakes has been mainly identified from China, with the composition varying between a variety of materials. Possibly the most disturbing finding from both US and international sources is that a grand majority of the brakes confiscated have a high amount of organic material, specifically compressed grass.

The level of danger posed by brakes made mostly of lawn clippings cannot be understated. To make matters worse, the packaging forged is of extremely high quality. This means that any brakes not purchased directly from a manufacturer may be compromised. If you've recently had your brakes replaced at a non-dealership service facility and suspect there may be something a little off, our partners at Ken Grody Ford Auto Repair Service in Buena Park, CA urge you can go to to a dealership for inspection ASAP.
