4/5 stars for discarding a good tire and patching a tire (after purchasing two new tires at the dealership).
I honestly would have rated lower, but I didn’t want to put Tim in a bad spot.
My issue stems from a patch on a tire. Tim had informed me that two of the tires on my wife’s car had nails and only one of them was repairable. He stated that the patch is free (on the repairable tire), but I immediately declined a patch. I initially told him that I’ll take the car to my regular tire shop to take care of the issue, as long as they didn’t remove the nails. Tim immediately confirmed the nails were not removed and then that phone call conversation ended. After a quick though, I called Tim back to tell him to replace the tires and if he would place the new tires in front (on the drive wheels). He appeared to understand my request.
He later called to inquire if I still wanted to decline the alignment- I left a voicemail message confirming the decline.
When I paid and picked up the vehicle I was told that the new tires were on the front wheels and the patched tire was placed in the rear. I was not happy!
You’re thinking that a patched tire isn’t a big deal, but it is to me. A friend of mine was killed in an accident. His family spared no expense on finding out what happened in the accident. The other vehicle was operated by a driver drunk which had a blowout - due to an incorrectly patched tire. That driver was not interested with safety of his vehicle. This is why patch tires are a hard stop - and in this situation a perfectly good tire could have been used instead. I’m really curious what went through the mind of the mechanic to patch a tire when another tire is fine. Your mechanic did more work than needed!
Tim was courteous, but overall your guys dropped the ball here.
