My service department customer number is 57832 This service issue occurred 10/23/2020. I am requesting a full refund $169.85 for work performed due to the following; We purchased our 2018 Honda CRV from Freedom Honda in Jan 2018. Our Honda CRV was brought in due to battery issues and concerns about a possible “parasitic” draw or software issue causing a slow discharge. I previously replaced the OEM battery in May 2020 with a Duralast Gold purchased at a local Autozone. The service rep I worked through was Wolf Knickerbocker. Wolf kept me updated and reported the service tech could find no problems with a parasitic type battery draw; however my battery was tested and had a bad cell. I requested the battery be placed in my car trunk area so I follow up with the local Autozone for a refund, etc. I picked up my Honda on Friday afternoon and the old Duralast Gold battery was not put in my vehicle trunk as requested. It took awhile to find out through the service desk that the battery removed was already picked up for recycling. I briefly spoke with Chris Burris who advised me they were working with the battery recycler to retrieve my battery and I would need to return to the dealership to pick it up. I returned on Saturday afternoon 10/24/2020 and picked up a used Gold Duralast battery that looked much older than the 5 month old one I previously installed, but I trusted there was some effort to ensure I was receiving the battery previously in my car. However, upon taking the battery (Duralast Gold) to the Autozone where I purchased it and reviewing my receipt; retesting battery and reviewing the Freedom Honda battery test report I found the following problems; 1) the battery provided to me was not the one previously installed in my Honda CRV. The battery was a Duralast Gold but the manufacturer date was 4/17 and mine was installed on 5/20. The Autozone does not sell “new” batteries older than a year, the oldest possible date on my Duralast Gold would be 2019. Additionally, the battery provided to me checked 83% charged and no bad cell issues were found. Lastly, a review of the Freedom Honda battery test report reflects it was tested for a CCA of 625 and should have been tested for a CCA of 500. So a long and unnecessary level of confusion to try and figure out why my 2018 Honda CRV is now on its third battery. I paid $169.00 for the installation of a new battery however I did not receive my 5 month old Duralast Gold battery back as requested and am really unhappy about being provided a similar one without someone in the Service Department being honest and saying we can’t get your battery back. This is the main complaint I have regarding this whole incident. I am also very concerned the battery in my car was not tested correctly for the right CCA and have no confidence anything was fixed. Currently, my Honda is starting and working but I will not be surprised if another battery issue occurs. Based on the amount of additional time and the inability to be truthful about what happened to my original battery I would like a full refund for the work performed. My invoice 344681 was $169.85 and the value of my 5 month old Duralast Gold was $159.27. Since I was not returned my original Duralast Gold; the local Autozone could not confirm any defect and only provided $10 for recycling the older Duralast Gold with a manufacturing date of 4/17. The service advisor was great! I just don't understand why Honda won't wash my car, even though I present a coupon every time. We live off a dirt road and it helps to wash the car. I always think I will get a nice shiny car after the service (with my coupon), yet it never happens. Yes, it's a "small" thing, but it inspires customer loyalty.
