Jef is great! Jef is a keeper and officially my new favorite SA going forward. :) Jef is really personable. He told me about what was happening with my car in a way I could understand and prioritized meaningful future repairs, but MOST IMPORTANTLY, I didn't feel like he was trying to "sell me" on things I didn't really need. (I hope that doesn't get him in trouble. I know Service Advisors are typically trying to get customers to buy as many services as possible, but as a customer, I HATE IT TIMES INFINITY. I can't tell what's real or what is just a cash grab. Ultimately, it impacts how much I trust what a Service Advisor is saying. In this case, I felt like Jef was on the level, so when he said I should get a brake service, I did it even though I only went in for an oil change.)
So again, Jef is great. I did have a couple of other thoughts for you to consider.
#1- I ADORE the technician's video during the inspection. (I brag about it to non-BMW owners all the time. Again, it goes to trusting the recommendations.) I know the techs do a lot of these in a day, which I imagine is annoying, but if they could slow down when they're talking on the video, it would be great. They clearly know what they're doing, and I want to be able to absorb it fully.
#2- I noticed this on the first and second floors while waiting a few hours to get my car done. (It's totally my fault I was there for 5 hours. You guys work as quickly as you can all the time.) I think employees get a little too used to their environment and forget that customers listen to everything they say all the time. I didn't hear anything too crazy, but when I was on the second floor at the workstation, there was a guy talking really loud and saying something to the effect that he might get turned into HR or HR was coming, so everyone should be careful. Something like that. The guy was CLEARLY joking around, but I noticed something similar on the first floor while waiting for my car to be brought around. A woman was around the corner from the first-floor waiting area in the SA desk row. She was soooo loud and you could hear everything she was saying even with all the other background noise. I was trying to tune it out, but it was something about credit cards and she was really frustrated with credit cards...I can't remember. (In fairness, it could also have been a customer, and if that's true, no one can control those wild cards. All you can do is survive them.)
The employees clearly liked each other because it didn't matter what department or function; they all seemed to have a happy vibe, which is a testament to the leadership team since creating a happy space starts at the top. I would just remind employees that customers aren't as nonchalant about the space as employees are. We're not here that often, so the space is still novel. Plus, we are likely BORED TO DEATH while we wait for our cars, so it's harder to tune out what's happening around you. Arrowhead BMW has always been a classy operation, but somehow it feels...sloppy? Unprofessional is extreme, but almost like, as customers, we're a background item. When employees talk with customers directly, it's always so professional, but it's like they forget we're still there when they start talking to each other.
I hope that makes sense. You all have a great operation. I love Arrowhead BMW and my BMW. The staff is great. This is just something I noticed while I was waiting, and I wanted to pass it along.
