I was disappointed with my experience after receiving a repair quote of nearly $15,000. While some of the recommended services were valid, others appeared unnecessary. To verify, I had two independent mechanics evaluate the vehicle. Both confirmed that only essential repairs were needed, which I had completed for a total of $1,211.
Notably, both mechanics stated that BMW’s claim of a leaking turbo needing repair was misleading. I also regret agreeing upfront to an oil change, brake fluid flush, and filter replacements, which cost $611. I later learned that a reputable independent shop would have completed those same services for roughly half the price.
Based on my experience, I would recommend seeking a second opinion and considering a trusted independent mechanic to avoid excessive and potentially unnecessary charges of using the dealership service department when the car is no longer under warranty.
