Was able to utilize my coupon and Jorge acknowledged my coupon for oil change. He did quote me 1 hour for my oil change but it actually took almost 2 hours
Alfredo was very helpful!
I brought my 2025 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid (30,014 miles) to South Bay Toyota for a routine, prepaid maintenance visit. Because I mentioned I was going on a road trip the next day and wanted a safety check, like how my past services like oil change, check ups, and tire pressure/leak checks. The service advisor, William Bermudez, took complete advantage of my situation. As a frequent customer who trusted them for my last five visits, I knew the 10k intervals included slight extras, but William placed over $1,800 in unnecessary add-ons, that i naively thought the extra add ones are the same as the previous ones, maybe a bit different since it is 30,000 miles maintenance service. Being 21 and relatively new to car service, I naively assumed it would just be a small fee. William pulled out a calculator and said the total would be "twenty-one forty." I mistakenly assumed there was a decimal and that it meant $214.00. Using ambiguous phrasing like "twenty-one forty" instead of clearly stating "Two Thousand One Hundred and Forty Dollars" is intentionally misleading. When I later challenged this, the Service Manager defensively argued that "everyone knows twenty-one forty means $2,140" and claimed they "never have problems," completely isolating me and shifting the blame.
Before signing, I explicitly asked William if these services were mandatory. He told me, "Yes, for every 30,000 miles”, when i argued after, william then said “I never said it was mandatory, I said it’s a recommendation” Once I sat in the waiting room, I felt something was off. I checked the official Toyota factory guidelines and realized these were completely unnecessary dealer upcharges. When I added up the numbers, I was shocked to find the total was $2,140, not $214. I immediately rushed to cancel the items. I signed the paperwork at 12:10 PM, and by 12:45 PM—in just 35 minutes—William claimed the mechanics had already completed the two filters ($135 each) and two major fluid flushes ($595 each). When I demanded to cancel them, he claimed they were already done and nothing could be undone.
This led to a deeply stressful situation where I had to confront the Service Manager just to get my vehicle back. I explained the fast-talking miscommunication and requested my old filters be reinstalled to cancel the fees. The manager claimed the fluids couldn't be undone but agreed to put the old filters back and get me a larger discount. Yet, when the vehicle was finished, the bill was still $1,200. When I pushed again to have my old filters reinstalled as promised, the manager changed his story, trying to convince me to keep the new ones because "I needed them anyway"—clearly proving they had already thrown my original parts away. While the manager ultimately bring the bill down to a final total of $996, the entire process was built on deception. To make a horrific experience worse, after handling the paperwork, William unprofessionally whispered "get outta here" under his breath after telling me to go to the cashier.
While I acknowledge that I should have double-checked the written figures before signing, this dealership explicitly took advantage of a young driver through fast talking, fabrications of factory mandates, and emotional duress. William never took the time to ensure I understood what I was paying for or that it was completely separate from my prepaid plan. If William had gone through each maintenance price with me slowly, I could’ve realized it and decline the offer. I am incredibly disappointed and highly unsatisfied.
Edward explained everything done on my vehicle and showed me a video. Answered all my questions. He was very courteous and helpful.
Thank you, service was excellent.
Edward was great! I love the new technology and the new checkout procedures.
I think a better understanding of how coupons work and are applied would be helpful. Chris applied the high mileage discount to the initial work but not to the additional work. Also, the digital coupons don’t provide any additional detail; you have to talk to the service representative about it. Why? Just tell me in the coupon what it covers.
Very good customer service from Alfredo , who helped me with my vehicle
Very good service, knowledgeable personnel.
Edward was very helpful and I look forward to working with him again in the future
Yes! Very satisfied with the finest services and quality outstanding and reliable technicians. Gomez was greatly appreciated with his services and Hope they assist with the work at southeast Toyota. I wish they can require a discount on my engine maintenance very tight budget and the quality for my 2006 campy. I think it a little expensive for a older car; but the technicians and staff are doing well ???? ???? Thank you! Mr.Cooper
Alfredo was prompt to greet me on arrival. He efficiently processed the paperwork for a scheduled maintenance visit and made intelligent suggestions on cleaning components and changing old fluids that improve cooling just before the heat of summer hits.
The work was finished efficiently by the estimated time.
The cashier processed the paperwork quickly and the car brought up quickly. Good job! I was a bit surprised at the somewhat high cost.
Everything was excellent, very satisfied.
Christopher Hannig was very professional, courteous, and efficient. He enumerated my car's concerns, and without pressure, allowed me to decide whether to proceed.
