I came in and spoke with Barb about my drivers side, inside door handle being loose. She said they would have to take off the door panel to replace the handle. She said it would be $170 since they had to take the panel off to replace it, so I made an appt for the next week and brought in my car. The day of service I waited for 1.5 hours in the waiting area, and then I got a text with a quote for $442. I went to Barb and asked her what was going on. She said I had to pay for a full car diagnostic in addition to the cost of the door handle. I told her that is not what we talked about. I did not need a full car diagnostic. I reminded her of our conversation and how we talked about fixing the door handle with the quote of $170. I could tell that this wasn’t Barb’s first rodeo with the bait and switch routine. I took my keys but had to pay $130 for the “diagnostic test” that was supposedly run on my car. My husband bought the part online from Toyota for $60 and will fix it himself. I was willing to pay the $170 to save my husband the time. I will never return to this dealership again, and I will make sure I warn others. Not that this dealership cares. It’s a small town with only one Toyota dealership, so clearly Toyota knows they can lie and cheat people, and there’s nothing they can do about it.
