When an appt is made for a time slot and the customer is waiting in the lounge area, it's always a good idea to let the customer know why the vehicle hasn't been pulled into the shop at the scheduled time rather than waiting to have the customer come to the service desk 15 minutes after the scheduled time to ask why the car hasn't even been pulled into the service area yet. Be proactive with your customers and explain the delay, rather than waiting for them come to you. I realize I brought my car in 30 minutes early and also acknowledged it was unlikely that my car would be worked on before the scheduled time, but having the car outside 15 minutes after the appt time without an explanation makes customers feel they're not important to the dealership. When I looked into the service area 15 minutes after my appt, there was no one working on any of the cars at that time.
