I brought my 2007 Highlander into Anderson Weber last Monday or Tuesday afternoon because my Brake, Tire Pressure, VSC, Trac Off, and ABS warning lights were all on - and had been sporadically throughout the prior week. John reset the warning lights, and told me to contact him if they came back on. They came back on as I drove home, so we set up an appointment for today in order to do a “complete diagnostic” of the problem. Tim was my service advisor today, and when he called me with the results I was told that the results were some what inconclusive. The problem was either with one of the two oxygen sensors or the ECM. Tim advised me that the Toyota repair manual instructs them to first replace one of the oxygen sensors and see if that solves the problem. Estimated cost $390. If that doesn’t work, they are instructed to replace the second oxygen sensor. Another $390. If the problem persists, they are instructed to replace the ECM at a cost of $1050 plus labor. When I asked Tim if he could provide me with a printout of the codes they had received from the ECM, he said that nothing like that is generated during the diagnosis. I find that hard to believe. And I am disappointed that I am expected to pay to replace two potentially fine oxygen sensors at $390 apiece in order to potentially learn that the real problem was with the ECM - or something else. I am frustrated by the lack of coherent information that has been provided to me by Anderson Weber in regard to this repair issue. I can’t believe I can’t even get the codes that were generated by the diagnosis procedure. Needless to say, I will be setting up an appointment with another repair service in Dubuque to get a second opinion on this issue. As of now, I don’t have a great deal of faith in the information I am receiving from Anderson Weber.
