When we made the appt. for an oil change and tire rotation, we were told no other service was recommended at this time. When we arrived, John Wilhelm suggested a fuel induction service and battery protection pads. This last minute service recom. did not allow us time to consider if this was necessary. We found out that it is recom. at 60,000 m. We only had 51,000 on the car and did some research that said because gas is so much cleaner now, that service falls into a “maybe” category. The same with research on the battery pads. Falls into a “maybe”category. So instead of a $50 oil change, we ended up with a $283.43 bill. We feel like we were taken advantage of. This experience makes us NOT want to return to A-W for service. And we are loyal customers, having purchased 5 cars from you. We feel that compensation needs to be made for these UNNECESSRY expenses. This service was to complete a recall for fuel pump replacement. Upon return of the car I noticed a small scuff on the lower interior door trim. I don’t remember this mark before the service and the fuel pump is under the back seat so could it have happened when the seat was removed? While I cannot be certain when it happened, I can honestly tell you I never saw it before today. Also the interior of the car smelled of gas when I opened the door. I totally understand you were disconnecting a gas line as part of the repair but perhaps you can adapt the procedure use something absorbent under and around the work area. As you know, even a few drops spilled is going to leave the smell . The service service process itself was great. Everyone was efficient and courteous. The repair was completed sooner than promised.
