Early 7am appointment- was greeted by Edward and an Asian guy (I didn’t get his name but he’s always friendly and efficient). Edward checks in my car, also took a picture of my car dash/meters and only light on is the Maintenance once- because I was due for an oil change. Kanika checked me in and paperwork down for oil change by 712am- informed her their system somehow doesn’t send me the technician inspection form, and she informed me that she would provide me a copy when car was ready. She is kind and helpful even from previous encounters.
Car was ready a little past 8am- I was very grateful and happy. My car is pulled up for me, first weird thing I notice is the sound my car is making. Second thing I notice while inside my car is the check engine light is on, the VSC and traction lights are on. I pull my car out of the lane so I don’t block other people picking up their cars, and park in the customer parking up front. I still hear a weird sound from my car so I open the hood of my car. I see a plastic venti Starbucks cup next to the oil filter with dark oil in the cup and it is touching a belt in my car.
This is very concerning for me. I take my paperwork and go back inside to speak with Kanika, I told her there’s a Starbucks cup in the engine area and she comes with me to my car. I open the hood, she sees the cup and pulls it out of my car. The top of the cup is partially chipped/melted from where it touched the belt, and there was at least an inch and a half of oil in the cup. She has me sit outside while she goes to check with the technician. I see someone, who might be the technician, with my car keys go to my car and drive my car back- kind of too fast. I wait for a bit and then I see the same person speed out with my car and the gas tank cover is open and he parks my car. He walks to find Kanika. She comes to me and tries to explain that the technician did this to catch the dirty oil, but this is still carelessness on his part since he forgot to remove this before my car was started and driven out. I get that it keeps dripping oil from getting on the engine and maybe the work floor. Not sure if this is the safe technique to use, especially if the last part of removing the Starbucks catch container is not done.
My concerns are my car came out with icons lit on the dashboard, car was making a noise due to a plastic Starbucks cup with oil leaning by moving engine belt under the hood of my car- a hazard waiting to happen, melting plastic cup, oil splashing/burning, damage to belt, engine damage… if I didn’t check my car right then and there at Wondries. This is not a good feeling, I’m hoping this feedback prevents anyone else from experiencing this in the future and/or having safety compromised.
