We took our vehicle to Paradise Chevrolet where I purchased the car in 2017. I have always had Paradise perform maintenance and repairs, but this time I was very disappointed. We took it in as the engine oil smelled of gasoline, the car had poor gas mileage, and poor acceleration with a very loud sound, and a whine, and occasionally the ABS system would alert. The mechanic told the service tech the car needed a new throttle body, and that is was causing the gas in the engine oil and other problems. So we authorized the repair of appx. $800. We asked if this would fix the problems we brought in for as listed above. The Service Tech said he would test drive after the repair and he called us back to tell us the throttle body did not fix the problem and the car had a code for the lower fuel pump. He suggested we replace both fuel pumps at the same time for $2500. We authorized the repair, and also asked about having the PCV valve changed, and the fuel filter, but were told they do not change them on gas cars, only diesels. We paid $200 to diagnose the ABS problem, but we were told to fix the ABS it would be an additional $2700. When we picked up the car, we paid $3500. We drove home and the car still made a loud noise when accelerating. We checked the oil to find that it still smelled like gasoline. We call the dealer and spoke with the service manager and he said to bring the car back as they had changed the oil in between the throttle body replacement and the fuel pump replacement, so it could be contaminated from that. We took the car back and they said the mechanic changed the oil and filter. However, we checked the oil this morning 9/30/2025, and the oil is dirty and still smells heavily of gasoline. We took the Equinox to Paradise Valley Chevrolet because we thought we could trust them to repair the car. We don't mind paying for a repair if it fixes the problem, but to pay $3500 and still have a loud noise on acceleration, poor gas mileage, and gas in the engine oil is unacceptable. Also, we now have an added bonus of a knocking sound when we use the AC with circulated air. I don't know if this is from the cabin filter that maybe got installed wrong after checking it. In addition, they did not fill the radiator overflow during the oil service. It seems the quality of the mechanics at the dealership has dropped. Also, it takes several days just to get a diagnosis. In summary, I am not satisfied with the service experience. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to share our experience.
