I brought my 2004 Honda Accord to Honda Cars of Corona to replace the battery under warranty. After a reasonable wait, my service advisor, Franco, informed me the work had been completed and handed me the keys. As I drove off the lot, I attempted to turn on the CD player only to be greeted with an error on the center screen: "MECHA ERROR". I quickly turned around and drove back into the service bay. Franco came out and I showed him the error. At the time, five of the six CD icons were illuminated on the center screen despite having all six CDs loaded. Franco took out a new work order for a tech to diagnose the issue. Over an hour later, Franco brought the car around and asked me to test the CD player, claiming the tech had performed a "master reset". To my shock and horror, NONE of the CD icons were illuminated on the center screen, even though all six slots were loaded. I pressed the CD/XM toggle button over and over in front of Franco and the car never switched to the CD player mode. Franco traded places with me in the driver's seat and also failed to switch on the CD player. Once again, Franco sent my poor car back into the service hangar. Another hour passed and Franco informed me of two options. First, pull out the CD player and send it to a third party for repair, which would not be guaranteed to fix it (Franco's words), cost $431, and require my car to spend a week at Honda Cars of Corona. Or second, replace my OEM entertainment system with an aftermarket unit. I was dumbfounded and immediately rejected both options. Why should I pay both time (seven days without my car) and money ($431) to have this repaired when my CD player worked as recently as the DRIVE OVER TO THE DEALER??? Then, after speaking with his manager, Franco said the best they could do would be to cover half of the cost, or $215.50. Unacceptable. In summary, I brought my car to this location to replace the battery under warranty. During this simple operation, the CD player became non-functional. Honda Cars of Corona broke the CD player in my 2004 Honda Accord and refused to take full responsibility.
