David - the replacement Keys work great - much appreciated your getting them on a timely basis and matching our scheduled appointments “over the hill”
I do need to point out I specified that the Auto Unlock (Smart Access System) NOT be enabled!!
Years ago (estimated ~ 6) I discovered that it drains and shortens the battery life if the car isn’t driven very regularly: I had my battery replaced as a result of this and subsequently disabled it!
I was enjoying observing how nice and effective the new keys were when I noticed the red signal on the key showing the car detecting the key. I was able to open the locked car with the key in my pocket. I immediately got out the instruction manual to recall how to disable this “Luxury” feature.
I disable it last night in a dark garage with portable lights.
The manual recommends “If you do not intend to drive your vehicle for a long time, push the cancel switch to deactivate the smart access system.”
I recommend this be pointed out to customers- [note: we have 2 cars, are retired, and even alternating use each one can go several days without being driven]
The drive home went well!
