I came in because my backup camera failed. It did not take them long to diagnose it. All they needed to do is put the car in reverse, which is what I think they did. The price they gave me for the job was over the top. The technician explained to me what needed to be done. I was clear he had done this before and knew exactly how to do it. After looking on line I know the part is expensive and installation can be involved and tedious, but not worth what Honda wants for it. The technician mentioned a few possible complications with the job, like the wiring might be faulty. Suppose they replace the camera and find the problem is not the camera? They didn't go there. They simply jumped to conclusions which always puts doubt in my mind. I asked the service advisor if this is a common problem with Honda. She would not give me a straight answer, saying it happens. The technician spoke like, this is another one, making it sound like it is a common problem. Why can't the service advisors be honest? The technician knows the cameras burn out all the time. Perhaps Honda should use better cameras to prevent such an expensive repair.
