The 4WD noise was originally reported when I called in December. The fluid changes that were done I requested just to have done at the same time since it would be up on the hoist. When I picked it up when that service was completed, I specifically asked what was found with the 4WD noise and was told that they didn't find anything and it had sounded fine. I brought it back in this week because a friend who works on farm equipment rode with me and commented that it really sounded like a bad U-joint. I was rather surprised and upset to be told on Monday that I needed to stop driving it or risk serious differential damage until it was fixed. When the tech looked at the original ticket, there was no mention of any 4WD noise on it. I called in December because I had time to leave it there to be addressed at that time. I did not have that time this week as I need it for this weekend. To boot, the billing on the original invoice was messed up so I was charged for 14 gallons of oil instead of 13 quarts. I'm comfortable changing fluids and doing basic vehicle maintenance along with some more advanced work. If that was all I had wanted done, I'd have done that myself, and had said as much on my original call. I also brought my Excursion in a few weeks ago for 4WD issues and was told that the brand new hub I'd had your techs put on last summer to resolve a noise that we couldn't pin down was now shelled because the axle was worn needed replaced. I'm upset that the worn shaft was not discovered at the time the new hub was installed. I've spent a fair chunk of change on service at your dealership these past 12 months, but if issues I've reported don't make it on the ticket or things that might cause bearings to wear out too quickly like worn axle shafts aren't checked when parts are replaced, I'm going to stop having work done at your business.
