Hello, I am not satisfied with my service with Larry Stracener. I ultimately received no help or advice on how to proceed with my vehicle and the battery problem I had experienced. The battery was also not replaced. I purchased a new 2025 Honda Odyssey with Weir Canyon Honda in February and the van only has 5,000 miles. We use the van 3-4 times per week. Whenever we park the van in the garage, we shut the engine off and then we lock the vehicle. This is how I know the vehicle is always off and not in accessory mode. Saturday morning, we found that the van battery was completely dead and completely depleted. We have no idea why. I called AAA to help with a Jumpstart so that we could take the van to the dealership. Their test stated there was a “bad cell”. I cannot confirm if their test was accurate. Regardless, I took the van to Weir Canyon for service, hoping for a battery replacement, since a brand new van should not have a dead battery overnight. Larry Stracener explained that the tests showed the battery was apparently good with nothing wrong with it. He explained that ONLY way for the battery to drain was if lights were left on or if left in accessory mode. I know that it was not. I kept asking what I can do to find out any other reason why the battery could potentially drain. Larry insisted there is no other possible way other than leaving it on. I asked again: is there any other possible reason why a battery could drain overnight? Larry insisted again that there is no other way and kept insisting that I left the car on overnight when I knew I did not. This is extremely frustrating and Larry had a complete lack of understanding and was completely unapologetic. I asked if there was anything I could do moving forward since I’m still not comfortable driving the van with a potentially faulty battery. We have a toddler and an infant, so the potential being stranded due to a faulty battery is not at all reassuring. He insisted there’s nothing wrong with the battery. I did some research to find possible ways that a car’s battery COULD drain overnight even if the car is turned off. Based on my research, there is a potential for a “parasitic draw”, which a few other Odyssey owners reported for their vans. I don’t think I need to explain what parasitic draw is, but what is frustrating is that Larry was wrong about his claims while also shifting blame onto me. I’ve been a loyal customer of Weir Canyon Honda since 2017 and have been generally happy with Weir Canyon for service and for purchasing parts. I am not happy with the service Larry provided. Either he has a lack of knowledge about electrical systems in the vehicles, or he is simply unwilling to listen to customer’s concerns, or to help or provide potential solutions/explanations for customer problems. As for the dealership warranty, the unwillingness to replace the battery makes no sense either, regardless of any tests. Thanks for your time.
