When I called to set up appointment, I spoke to Josh who was very nice. I told him I needed to come in for a couple of recalls on my car. He found one but I told him there was another. One for oil level and one for car stalling. He looked it up and said he did see both. I showed up for appointment but he was not in his office. Mr. Jimenez waved me to his office and I told him what I was there for and that I had spoken to Josh. He took info for both recalls and I ask if they could air my tires as well since they were at 35, 33, 32, 32. He told me that the weather would make them fluctuate and I told him I knew that but I needed them aired up to 35. He told me again about how the cold weather would affect them and I finally told him “just air them to 35.” I may be a woman but I have been around cars and racing all my life and my sone used to work in the automotive industry. He took my keys and showed me to the waiting room. Awhile later, he came in and ask to speak to me. He said there was a problem. I told him I knew of about four and started naming the backup camera, the start/stop and told him “a couple others I couldn’t think of.” I ask what it was and he said I needed 2 new batteries, that my car had to be jumped off. He said it needed a storage and auxiliary battery. I told him I didn’t have any issues with it starting before I got there. He the showed me an estimate for two new batteries that was approximately $505. I told him there was no way I could afford that. I ask him if the key had been left on while the updates were being done? He got a little snippy and said no. I told him to just start it and I would take it where I bought my battery last year. He told me to sign the estimate stating I refused the service/batteries. I signed and he took me out and said, “There’s your car and it’s running.” I told him thank you and left. I went to the place I bought my battery in August 2021 and turned my car off and went inside to talk to them. About 15 minutes later, I went out and started my car before they checked my batteries and it started right up. No issues. At that time, they checked both batteries and said the auxiliary was factory and was dead and the storage battery was slightly low but was fine and was holding a charge. I replaced the auxiliary for $111 and did not replace the storage battery however, my total cost for both installed would have been a little over $300. So all in all, not a good first experience with Star.
