I was advised that it was standard practice to turn the rotors each time the break pads were changed. In almost 30 years of having my automobiles serviced every 5K miles, I have never had a service representative make this statement. My prior experience has been that I have been given measurements showing excessive wear, or inconsistent thickness demonstrating a need to turn the rotors. In one case I was taken into the maintenance shop and observed a repeat of the test. While not accusing anyone of improperly inflating the billing, I have never paid $1,000+ for a break job on one of my Lexus in almost 30 years.
