Will Hydrogen Cars Dominate the Roads by 2032?

Experts all over the world think that fuel cell hydrogen vehicles will achieve mass adoption and soon we will see more of them than gas-powered cars within the next decade or so.

At Jerry's Chevrolet Inc, we know that we need to be less dependent on oil for our main go-to fuel and that's why we're hoping to see more hydrogen vehicles and hydrogen fueling stations in Leesburg and all over VA.

AutoRepair-Review will hydrogen cars dominate the roads by 2032Designing and mass-producing fuel cell hydrogen cars is one thing, but creating enough infrastructure to support them is a whole different proposition. It's a dilemma very similar to that faced by battery-electric vehicles, but electric charging stations are less expensive and easier to install than hydrogen stations. In addition, they can rely 100% on the existing electrical grid infrastructure for their electricity, which gives them a definite advantage over hydrogen.

A recent report by Computerworld states that the number of hydrogen fueling stations in the world will reach 4,808 by 2032, up from just 285 in 2016, according to a study conducted by Information Trends.

This analysis also forecasts that U.S. hydrogen fueling stations will 78 by the end of 2017, with a total of 197 by 2022, and 1,208 by 2032. There are presently 33 public hydrogen stations in the U.S., according to the Department of Energy's Alternative Fuels Data Center. Most of the stations in California, which is the only state where hydrogen fuel-cell cars are  offered at this time.

Here are some more interesting facts about hydrogen fueling stations in the U.S. and in the world: .

·         California has committed to financing a network of 100 stations through 2020.

·         By that time, automakers will likely still be selling fuel-cell cars in smaller numbers, which a network of that size can handle.

·         Outside the United States, Denmark presently has the most widespread network of fueling stations on the planet, according to a study done by Information Trends.

·         Germany will soon surpass Denmark with a network of 400 stations throughout the country, and set to roll out by the end of 2022.

·         German automakers are quickly developing battery-electric cars, but Mercedes-Benz is expected to unveil a fuel-cell version of its GLC-Class Crossover later this year.

·         Information Trends reported that the cost of hydrogen fueling stations will eventually drop, which will enable for more rapid infrastructure expansion.
