To be told on phone the diagnostic fee is $210. Then last minute I am told it’s over $400 diagnostic fee in person. Then every other place I went to diagnostic fee was in $100 range. Then tonight being told by my friend who used to work at a service center for ford that the dealership people are told to lie to you and make you pay more money.
Everyone was friendly but pricing is the extremely inflated. I also feel that I was incorrectly advised that I should replace BOTH
my front rear break pads AND rotors for a total of $1,630.24, before tax. When I asked if all 4 rotors needed to be replaced, I was told “Yes its super damage. the noise you hearing is metal to metal”. While I know its true that the noise I hear is metal on metal, it’s simply not true that all 4 of my rotors are “super damaged”. I declined and also didn’t mention that I just had my front brake pads replaced a week ago. My rear brake pads definitely need replacing ASAP but as of now, the rotors are not “super damaged”. Perhaps I’ll stand corrected when I bring it to a mechanic I trust but I feel it was dishonest to just immediately jump to the conclusion that I need to replace both the front and rear rotors and it’s certainly no coincidence that it’s the most expensive option in terms of a brake quote. I always intentionally avoid the dealership for mechanic work but figured it would be easiest for the headlight combo switch replacement. I have had other poor experiences at this location but I just learned today that the ownership changed back in 2020 so I won’t include that experience here. My experience this time though has left me with similar feeling. While I’m happy the actual work completed and the staff I interacted with were friendly, I feel that the approach is to squeeze the most amount of money out of people as possible. I’m guessing this isn’t actually the case but it feels like there is a commission structure in place for the head of the service department. I knew exactly what was wrong and only requested that to be fixed. But because of your system of a mandatory $220 multi point inspection…none of which can be applied to the work I’m requesting to be done, I end up paying $650 for an $83 part and labor. The labor listed is just listed as $336. There’s no mention of hours or what an hourly rate is. It feels like the labor quote is just an estimated number towards your benefit and not an accurate representation of an hourly rate. Do you have an hourly rate for labor? How was this rate labor rate determined? Why is there no listing of the labor hours? I agreed to the rate before the work was done so clearly the labor was estimated ahead of time. I get that. But I find it hard to believe that a simple thing like swapping out the headlight combo switch took much more than an hour…if that. I will not be back.
Victor is very professional, kind and helpful. He always explains throughly so I can understand what needs to happen with my car needs.
